As J. Byron Brazier began shaping his vision for urban renewal on Chicago’s South Side, Birk Creative served as an early thought partner and creative collaborator. Working closely with him, JinJa Birkenbeuel created his first branding, business cards and website, giving his developing ideas a clear visual presence. The Heirs of Bronzeville identity shown here reflects that formative work.

The Brazier family trusted JinJa to provide a sounding board and practical creative support while the vision was still taking shape. She helped J. Byron explore how design could strengthen his personal brand, build relationships and support funding conversations. Teaching was part of the collaboration, giving him both the materials he needed at the time and a foundation for understanding and directing future creative work.

We Love The Font

We chose bold, stencil-style typography to give the identity an architectural character, connecting J. Byron’s vision to the physical language of building and urban renewal. The geometric letterforms complement the dimensional symbols. A shared typeface unites Heirs of Bronzeville, Heir Gallery and Heir Corporation as a recognizable family of brands, while color distinguishes each one.
