How To Use AI to Accelerate Your Content Duplication Process (Without Sacrificing Creativity)
Since 2020, I've had to release staff, and take over some roles that I had previously delegated to others. As a result of this, as anybody who runs a business would know, or anyone who's in a leadership position would understand, I've had to pick up a lot of the slack.
There's simply not enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done in my business. In particular, as a media agency that is responsible for multiple clients’ enterprise social media platforms, I have been looking for ways to accelerate the content duplication process for my original content.
I found a great tool to do that. This might sound like an ad, and I don't mean it to be. I want my community of entrepreneurs and business owners, and even leaders, to take a look at something I discovered through my research on Reddit, an AI tool that helps make reproduction of my existing content assets much faster. Plus, agency revenues haven’t bounced back yet since the pandemic years, and the requirement to be present with existing customers is way up.
Recently, I've had some wonderful live conversations on my podcast The Honest Field Guide. My conversations are fascinating, brilliant and my guests do most of the talking. After my shows, I need to create several social media posts containing memorable snippets of my conversations. Opus Clip worked really well for this.
The app is not entirely perfect, there are challenges around the design of the existing templates that you use to embed excerpts from your audio. As a trained designer, the available fonts are slightly unappealing to me, and there are objects and miscellaneous items I would like to delete from the templates. However, with those little complaints, being able to extract the most interesting quotes, almost instantly, from my interviews using the built-in AI system on the Opus Clip platform was fairly incredible. Opus Clip created 30 audio excerpts for me in under :15 seconds which also automatically created branded design templates too. I can edit the content, like correcting the spellings of names and titles, and choose the size and proportions depending on where I plan to share the content. There are tons of font choices for captions, and then I can use the app to schedule posts to my social media channels.
The only major disadvantage of Opus Clip is that it is incredibly expensive, especially if you have high-volume content needs. When you have revenue that allows you to use it as part of the workflow, it makes complete sense.
The app saved me an extraordinary amount of time, and rescued me from doing painful, tedious and exhausting media grunt work.
I use creative AI tools for brainstorming at times. I don't use AI for creation. I do believe in the human power of original creativity, imagination and thinking. I don't ever want that to not be a part of my life because I am an artist and a creator. To everyone out there – just because you don't use a paintbrush, just because you don't make songs, just because you don't draw with your hands, does not mean you're not an artist or not a creator. One of the challenges in the world right now in the context, or the backdrop of AI, is that people that are not in creative fields are excited to use these tools because they have never believed that they are artists creators. Some are sadly not trying to use their imagination to create and instead are using AI tools to create for them. The artist Nick Cave recently wrote this is an existential threat to humanity.
When human beings stop believing that they can create and are using AI tools to create, we will have lost everything.
We must be vigilant with artificial intelligence tools. I write this, not just to creatives and artists, who should never ever experiment with these tools to replace their imagination. I want to tell people that don't believe they have imagination because maybe they're an accountant, or a doctor, or an economic scientist, or whatever it is, that they do, there is creation, and every single thing you do. Your ideas in your mind are original creative thoughts. If you have a thought, that's creation. Some of these artificial tools will not even give you the chance to use your imagination and your mind to create. The tools make you feel as if you're creating, but you're not. You have to be warned against the possibility of artificial intelligence tools taking over your creative process. You have to fight and resist. And especially when you're not a traditional artist, don't believe for a second that you're not a creator. That's one of the biggest lies and tricks that have been placed in the minds of people. However, if you do want to accelerate your video and audio content repurpose and release process and strategy, this app is actually an excellent tool to do that with.
